We asked regular visitors to this blog 'when buying paint - do you'....
Here were the 4 choices:
Buy the cheapest
Buy a major brand
Buy shops own brand
Always buy a new brush/roller.
Here are the results:
80% bought a major brand, whilst the other 20% who voted favoured shop's own brands.
Interestingly - 80% also stated they bought a new brush or roller everytime they bought paint.
Now wasn't that more interesting than watching paint dry?

Our most recent poll asked "What will be your number one home improvement this year?"
50% were concerned with creating more space - perhaps through an extension or loft conversion/garage conversion.
25% were considering remodeling and the remaining 25% were thinking of new fixtures and fittings.
Our new poll asks "Awnings or Conservatory blinds - which could you use most this Summer?"
Take a second to select our answer - we don't ask for any email address or contact details to take part but you could help other home owners decide which is the most useful option.

How much do you spend on home improvements each year?
Homeowner survey.
Last month, we asked "How much do you spend on home improvements each year?"
With over half of those surveyed spending between 1 and 3 thousand pounds a year, it's no surprise that the UK is still very much in love with DIY.
More surprising perhaps is the fact that 15% of you confess to ripping out at least one room each year and giving it a complete makeover.
Here are the results in full:
Up to £1000 - It's not a major priority - 26%
£1001 to £3000 - I don't like to do too much in one year - 31%
£3001 to £4000 - I'm always doing something, but on quite a small scale - 15%
£4001 to £5000 - I Usually rip out one room a year and start again - 15%
More than £5000 - You can't stop me! Decorating, remodelling etc. - 13%
poll of 228,000 homeowners via our August newsletter.

Homeowner Poll - Which room do you spend most time in?
Last month in our regular monthly newsletter, we asked over 220,000 homeowners 'which room do you spend the most time in?'.
The results suggest a nation of 'lounge lizards' as we relax after a hard days work, although catching up with the family over dinner gave kitchens as the second most popular room in the house.
Perhaps the lack of sunshine resulted in the un-popularity of conservatories in July / August as the room you were most likely to spend time in.
Here are the results:
Lounge - relaxing after a hard days work - 44%
Kitchen - catching up with the family over dinner - 24%
Bedroom - catching up on my beauty sleep - 17%
Conservatory - especially when the sun is shining - 9%
I spend no more time in one room than another - 6%

33% said... the results of our last homeowner survey into creating extra room
Survey results
Last month in our monthly newsletter, we asked our readers "If you were to build a spare room, where would you build it and what would you use it for?"
Out of 327,000 home owners surveyed from our newsletter, the results were as follows:
When asked “Where would you build your spare room”?
33% said extension
27% said loft
18% said garage
10% said conservatory
6% said garden cabin
6% said other
Whilst an extension was the most popular choice, and people still favoured the loft over the garage, interestingly, 6% would consider a garden ‘log cabin’ for extra space.
These clever structures can be used for everything including home office, dining and even home gyms.
When asked “What would you use this space for”?
33% said bedroom
26% said living space
23% said home office
8% said dining
6% said home cinema
2% said games room
2% said other
Most home owners seem keen to add an extra bedroom, whilst home cinema proved a more popular option than a games room – sorry kids!
